The Fosterville Solar Farm project is an excellent example of sustainable energy development in action.
By using innovative design and planning techniques to minimise environmental impact and working collaboratively with local communities and government bodies, this project has been able to secure planning permission and bring significant economic benefits to the region.
Fosterville Solar Farm is a 100MW solar farm and battery project that has been approved for construction in central Victoria. Our team supported the development process by using our in-depth knowledge of the region and planning skills to progress the project through the Victoria’s development approvals process and secure planning permission.
Located approximately 20 kilometres east of Bendigo, Victoria, Fosterville Solar Farm will be constructed on a 183-hectare flat, cleared agricultural site with few dwellings in the vicinity. The project will involve the development of a 100MWac solar farm and 120MW/240MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The solar farm will provide 100MW of clean renewable energy into the power grid, while the battery system will provide additional benefits by allowing the facility to feed into the grid at times of low sunshine and outside daylight hours. The project is expected to generate approximately 150 jobs during the 14-month construction period and up to 5 ongoing positions over the 30-year operational life of the facility.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Fosterville Solar Farm project is the way it has been designed to minimise impact on the local ecology.
Even though almost 200,000 solar panels will be installed on the site, the development process was carefully managed to ensure that minimal native vegetation was impacted. The site is largely cleared, and the project has been designed to avoid impacts on any sensitive receivers nearby

Our team worked closely with FRV Services, the developer of the Fosterville Solar Farm project, and the relevant government departments to guide the application through to a successful approval and planning permit. The site is on the traditional lands of the Taungurung people, and NGH ensured that cultural matters were considered throughout the development process.
