Comprehensive services ensured the Riverina Water Treatment Plant Upgrade was executed with minimal environmental impact, maintaining compliance and fostering successful development.
Our team proudly supported Riverina Water County Council in upgrading their water treatment plant, which supplies potable water to 73,000 people in Wagga Wagga City and surrounding villages, as well as Lochart Shire and parts of Greater Hume and Federation Council.
The majority of this water comes from the Treatment Plant on Hammond Avenue in Wagga Wagga. Between 2015 and 2018, Riverina Water upgraded the plant to ensure it could meet customer needs through 2040 and beyond.
Comprehensive environmental solutions for Riverina Water projects
We worked closely with Hunter Water on multiple stages throughout the full project cycle. Our team delivered a significant part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) as required for approval by NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
We also conducted specialist studies for biodiversity and heritage and managed sub-consultants for noise and vibration, ensuring that critical timelines were adhered to and costs remained within budget.
During construction, we provided environmental management support to UGL. We navigated the challenges of a tight site near the river to ensure the project was completed successfully.
Tightly bordering the Murrumbidgee River and Marshalls Creek, this was a complex site from an environmental impact perspective, however, we navigated the site challenges to a successful outcome.
Leveraging extensive experience in water and utilities
We’ve collaborated with Riverina Water on various other projects, including water storage facilities, pipelines, and solar farms for pumping. Having prepared environmental assessments, Review of Environmental Factors (REFs), and specialist studies on biodiversity, noise, vibration, and Aboriginal heritage.
Throughout these projects, our team has offered practical and cost-effective advice to minimise impacts.
At NGH, we strive to ensure our clients meet environmental compliance standards, protecting both their projects and their reputation.
