31 August – 9 September | Sydney
ACCIONA Energía and NGH Join Forces as Co-Sponsors of The Heritage Hub at ICOMOS General Assembly, Advocating for Heritage Protection and Sustainable Development
ACCIONA Energía and NGH, renowned advocates of sustainable development and strong supporters of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are thrilled to announce their co-sponsorship of The Heritage Hub at the upcoming ICOMOS General Assembly in Sydney, 31 August – 9 September 2023. The Heritage Hub, a dynamic space that will bring together industry leaders, government representatives, Indigenous and local communities, as well as heritage professionals, is dedicated to fostering robust discussions on sustainability, heritage protection, and development.
The triennial ICOMOS General Assembly, organised by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), has long been a pivotal gathering for global experts and stakeholders in the field of heritage conservation. The Heritage Hub serves as a central platform for the convergence of ideas, experiences and knowledge, focusing on a broad spectrum of heritage and sustainability issues. Participants will explore themes ranging from renewable energy to adaptive reuse, through to urban landscapes and consideration of how the global community can view heritage within the context of sustainable development in the face of climate adaptation.
“We are excited to co-sponsor The Heritage Hub: it aligns perfectly with our shared commitment to sustainable development and heritage protection,” said Matthew Barber, Technical Director – Heritage at NGH. “This platform provides an invaluable opportunity to collectively address the complex challenges of sustainability and heritage preservation, while also promoting the importance of the United Nations SDGs in shaping a better future.”
Caroline Bommes, General Manager of Brand and Marketing at ACCIONA Energía, added, “As leaders in renewable energy, this initiative supports our commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and protection of cultural heritage. Our renewable energy projects provide the opportunity to locate and pArotect cultural artefacts on previously inaccessible land, and our participation in this conference will foster dialogue around this.”
