From paddock to energy production, our team at NGH is delighted to have provided comprehensive life-cycle support for the Wemen Solar Farm project, which has proven to be a highly successful venture.
Our involvement in the project began with site selection, where we assisted our client in choosing a suitable location for the solar farm.
We focused on selecting flat land with limited native vegetation in appropriate locations, taking into consideration factors such as proximity to the electrical grid, sunlight exposure, and land availability. With this information in hand, our client could make an informed decision and proceed with the planning application.
Our next step was to prepare the planning application, manage expert inputs, liaise with stakeholders, and gather relevant material to ensure a positive decision. We worked diligently with our client and local authorities to ensure that all necessary environmental assessments and impact studies were conducted and that all regulations and guidelines were met.
Once the planning permit was issued, we continued to assist the client by overseeing the construction phase of the project. Our team worked closely with the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor to ensure that all planning permit conditions were met and that the solar farm was built to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Today, the Wemen Solar Farm is fully operational, generating 110MW of clean, renewable energy on 700 acres of land. The farm powers 34,000 homes, providing significant benefits to the local community and the environment. By preventing 117,000 tonnes of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere, the solar farm is helping to combat climate change and contribute to a more sustainable future.
